I've put my name down to give a talk at the next GeekUp in
Liverpool and
I think microformats would be a good topic. I can talk about
the
different formats and the process, and some of the consumers
like the
browser plugins and technoratis search engine.

What else can I put in there? I want to try and show this
group of web
devs why they should be using ufs, what convinced you they
were a good
idea? Also what are the best examples of them being adopted
by major
sites, I know upcoming use them a lot, and there are some on
flickr
aren't there?

Any news on developments in Firefox 3 if people know, and
word from the
MSIE team? (There was something in a job ad from MS wasnt
there?)

Thanks!
Thom

--- the lists of examples in the wild for each format should
get you

The example I like to use is hReview. With normal searching
you can
wade through a lot of irrelevant pages which happen to have
the same
keywords as the book/movie/whatever. A review search would
let you
pull up actual reviews - no fuss.

hCard is actually a more widely used example and works with
a lot of
phones/software; but people often freak out about privacy if
you bring
it up. Which is absolutely ludicrous of course since ufs
just add to
the data you're *already publishing*. But the privacy debate
can
hijack discussions if you're not careful.

hCard is a good example for managers who actually have
expensive
phones and big data plans paid for by the company. Show them
how easy
it is to whack their details into someone's phone - they
love that
stuff

cheers,
ben
