Good Morning, Micronetters

I am curious. I thought that the requirement for allowing
the campus
security scanning IP's were not _mandatory_ and only highly
recommended.
If it is not mandatory then why is the latest deployment of
Symantec
Firewall set with the IP's in the Network default and you
can not turn
it off?

Thanks,

Charles

The general client install is just that - a general purpose
stand-alone installation that is suitable for unmanaged
environments.
If you want a fully configurable installation, use the
client install
from the Admin CD and build your own ruleset. You can always
export
the ruleset from a type system and import it into a
standalone client
if you do not run the management console.

Though I do think you need a clear idea of why you want to
exclude the
SNS comparator machines (not the scanners). The main case I
know is
personal machines that do not connect directly to the campus
(dial-up,
VPN, AirBears, ethernet, etc.). Otherwise I am quite happy
to let them
test my settings. They are nice people, and I'll learn from
anyone
