I'd like to put in another good word for NoNAV. I've been
having
install/uninstall problems with SCS since the beginning, and
these brute
force tools are often neccessary.
I started with an older NoNAV from Berkeley, but I got much
better results
when I dug up version 1.19 on some other school's server.
I'm happy that
Roger has given us 2.49, and I hope that later updates will
be posted as
available.
In the tough cases (an regardless of instructions), I start
with NoNAV,
and then follow it with SymNRT (aka Norton Uninstall Tool),
including the
reg hack and the MSI cleanup associated with the latter.
NoNAV may need to
be run in Safe Mode.
It would be easy to believe that these troublesome programs
(SCS) should
be thrown off the island, but much of the blame must go to
Microsoft's
Installer.
