Thanks for all the suggestions. The machine also had a copy of Backdoor.Haxdoor.O. After handling that I tried most of the suggestions, but the one that worked on this machine included the following steps:
- Renaming the Eudora Application/Data folder
- Reinstalling Eudora to a new Eudora Application/Data folder
- Copying the users mailboxes, address book, etc. to the new Eudora folder.
Thanks again,
Andre

Hi Andre,
I had that kind of problem before. what you have to do is
1) Close Eudora if it is running.
1) Open the Eudora folder ( or the folder where there are all the mail boxes)
2) Rename in.mbx to something like in_OLD.mbx.
3) Copy one of the boxes like Out.mbx, or trash.mbx or other mbx which has least amount or smaller in size.
4) Paste the copied file into the same folder.
5) Rename the file which was just pasted ( copy of Out.mbx or copy of ... .mbx) to in.mbx
6) Run Eudora.
It will give a message "the table of content was damaged or will repair ......" something like that. Just click on yes. Then you can run Eudora.
7) Check the message in in_OLD box. The last one ( latest one) might be causing the problem. So, delete the message.
8) Now you have two (in) boxes. - new in.mbx and old in_OLD.mbx. You can either move all the email from in_OLD box to new in box or rename the file in_OLD.mbx to in.mbx in the folder where you have all the mail boxes.
Try it.

Hi Micronet,
A WinXP Pro machine running Eudora 6.2 displayed an unhandled exception
message upon start up. After forcing it to quit through Task Manager the
inbox was rebuilt only to fail again. I'm currently working my way through
the steps listed at http://www.eudora.com/techsupport/kb/1735hq.html. <http://www.eudora.com/techsupport/kb/1735hq.html.%A0> I've
completed Step 4, and will start Step 5 in an hour or so.
Eudora send mail, but the check mail menu item and toolbar icon appear to do
nothing at all. Anyone have ideas or experience with a similar issue?
Thanks,
Andre
