One of our faculty, a power user, intended to upgrade his
oem Dell XP home
system to XP pro. He attempted to do this using Volume
License media from
TRC.
The installation went poorly, partly because the installer
was unable to
find files in the i386 folder, even though it is there and
readable.
Post-install the machine reports XP Pro, and things like EFS
work.
But at every boot a message appears that XP is not legal.
When he traced
this down on the MS web site he was asked to enter the MVLS
Product Key
that he had used; the site claimed that the key had been
cancelled! It is
the same key we have used in the past, which ends with the
digits -3vhgy.
Do we have a new key?
Thanks,
TC
