Hello M'netters,

Does this have something to do with the rather recent -- I
think -- practice
of sending SPAM as GIFs, or whatever they are. Just curious.

Thanks,

Bond

I just deleted 27,670 emails from the Calmail Spam folder of
a user.
Spam aging was set to the 30 day default. It's getting a
bit thick out
there.

One of our users had calmail spam aging set to 30days, and
was getting quota
warnings whenever she loggen onto the calmail web client,
due to 10,000
pieces of spam.

After setting aging to 7 days, I tried to "show
all", then "mark all", then
delete. But the imap connection between the calmail web
client and the
cailmail mailserver kept breaking. I could delete small
screens of mail, but
there were 667 default-size screens of spam, and at about 10
seconds each
that would take forever. Also, reducing the aging time
didn't seem to reduce
the population, even after logging out and in again.

So I made an imap connection with eudora 6.2 and
effortlessly emptied the
spam imap folder. That makes me think that it's Squirrel
Mail that maxed
out, not the server. I'm guessing that once the spam folder
gets big enough,
automatic deletes fail and it grows to full quota.

Do other have the same experience?
