Hi Sean,

Thanks for asking the question. I admit that I hadn't
thought about  
this -- very legitimate! -- question arising.

I am the campus project lead for the IST customer
satisfaction  
survey. We are working with a consulting company based on
the East  
coast. That is why the survey is hosted off campus. The
company that  
we are working with has done similar surveys for several
other  
universities including Stanford, USC and MIT.

A randomly selected sample of the campus faculty, students
and staff  
communities were invited to participate in the survey. This
is one of  
many mechanisms that IST is using to get feedback on our  
organization's services.

I can assure you that the survey is legitimate and I
strongly  
encourage you to participate!

Apparently one of the other mechanisms IST is using is a $5
gift 
certificate bribe, er, I mean incentive...
