Hi,

For those of you who may have wondered what CDOP and SISC morphed into see:

Note the 'Introduction to Career Planning' workshop is a prerequisite for other workshops. In it you fill out an assessment of what other workshops you may need and learn about this program which replaces CDOP.

CAREER SERVICES FOR CAMPUS
Please share this information with colleagues, your supervisees and staff organizations about career services available for all staff. The Center for Workforce Development will offer career development workshops and career counseling through a partnership with Counseling and Psychological Services at the Tang Center.
 
Building a career on campus involves developing a plan that connects one's personal interests and abilities with career opportunities available at the University A new set of workshops and resources are now available to campus to help in that exploration.
All workshop and enrollment information can be found on ICE.
 
SPRING CAREER WORKSHOPS
Introduction to Career Planning
Instructors: Dr. Jarralynne Agee & Dr. Elayne Chou
Staff members are encouraged to attend this workshop to clarify their career planning needs and to learn about new programs and resources on campus to help them achieve their career goals at Berkeley. This workshop is the pre-requisite for all other career services and events.  (1.5 hours) Dates: 2/15, 2/20, 4/5, 5/10
 
 
SELF ASSESSMENT        ;           ; Dr. Rick Low
Exploring Career Interests with the Strong Interest Inventory
The Strong Interest Inventory is used to clarify prominent career and work interests. These themes will be discussed and related to job families and career opportunities on the Berkeley campus.  (1.5 hours) Dates: 2/26, 4/10, 5/14
 
Assessing Personality Type and Your Career with the Myers-
Briggs Type Indicator
Understanding your preferred work style and how it relates to specific careers and work roles on campus can be critical to career satisfaction.  ;
(1.5 hours) Dates: 3/5, 4/17, 5/24
 
Values and Skills Assessment
This workshop will focus on clarifying career values and skills to help you evaluate how jobs in different campus departments match your personal values and skills. 
 (1.5 hours) Dates: 3/12, 4/27, 6/1
 
GOAL SETTING        ;               ;   Dr. Elayne Chou
Taking Action and Moving Forward in Your Career
Goal setting and decision making strategies will be addressed in this workshop to help staff  learn ways of coping with potential obstacles to career development.
 (1.5 hours) Dates:  3/22, 5/3, 6/7
 
JOB SEARCH SKILLS    
Center for Workforce Development & Office of Human Resources
 
Marketing yourself for your next job (Resume & Cover Letters).
This workshop focuses on creating a resume and cover letter that gets attention and results.  (1.5 hours) Dates: 2/26, 4/6
 
Job Interview Workshop
This hands-on workshop gives you tips for acing the interview.

Informational Interviewing
Go straight to the source. Get great career information by holding conversation with staff that could help with ideas to support your career strategy

Career Panel: Success Stories at CAL
Staff members who have made successful career transitions will discuss successful strategies for career planning at Cal.  (1.5 hours) Dates: 3/19, 4/27
