The Office of the CIO is currently recruiting for the position of
Director of the Technology Program Office.
The Technology Program Office (TPO)
(
http://tpo.berkeley.edu) sets strategy, standards, and tools to be
used by technology project managers across campus. It provides a standard
and repeatable project management methodology for use across all
technology projects, and establishes capability and infrastructure to
support and govern a cohesive project environment. The TPO provides
tools, such as project portfolio management and templates for project
planning and project management training. This office also provides
direct project management services for major enterprise-level projects.
The TPO leads the planning and development of campus IT projects that
advance teaching, learning, and research, strengthen campus services,
increase access to campus resources, and develop new ways to work
collaboratively.
The Director of the Technology Program Office will directly manage a
portfolio of projects managed in that office, as well as oversee and
guide projects managed elsewhere on campus. The incumbent will set the
strategic direction for the campus in this area and will work with the
CIO and the Associate CIOs across campus to develop and implement
methodologies and tools in support of effective technology project
management. Through building effective relationships across campus, the
Director will provide advice and counsel to the CIO with regard to
technology planning and programs. The candidate will interact directly
with executive sponsors at very high levels across the campus to provide
an appropriate framework for managing projects in support of their
strategic business objectives.
