I had a conversation with Rich Lau, Compensation manager
about this
very issue. He said to fit it as best you could into one
job
description. There will be some exceptions where someone is
doing two
very different jobs that have clear descriptions and in that
case it
may be appropriate to submit two job descriptions (e.g. they
are a
P/A in the morning and work in a wet lab in the afternoon).
Then,
during the process of review and classification by the
Compensation
Consultants, they will determine if it requires more than
one
field. This is very much a work in progress and, as such, a
huge
undertaking which will require many adjustments.
In any event, use the job description that fits best and let
Compensation sort it out. Also, your HR people should be on
top of
this and you can consult with them as well.
