Can anyone recommend a good voice/speech recognition
software for a Mac user?

Thanks,
Nancy

iListen from Mac Speech is the best out there for Macs --
http://www.macspeech.com/.
However, it's not as good as the options
for PCs. If your user has Leopard, we've heard that there
may be a
voice recognition option.

Hope that helps your user!

The topic of speech recognition software was also
discussed on
Micronet about two years ago, and that conversation was
archived at:

For convenience - and in case anything from that thread
might still
be relevant to your query, Nancy - it's appended below.

Here's a claim about Leopard's speech recognition, as
well as
iListen's Leopard-compatibility, from iListen's vendor

This note is also being cc'd to the MAGNet list, in case
some
members might have direct experience with Macintosh voice
recognition
products ...

    Finally, here's a 'composite review' - aggregating
results from
individual reviews - of several Windows products, which also
mentions
iListen for the Mac:

I'll second Aron on this one. I used voice recognition
software for
maybe a week or two several years back while recovering from
an injury.
It was the fastest way for me to create text under the
circumstances,
and it was wonderful to have. However, I ditched it for the
keyboard
at the first opportunity.

A possible alternative for text generation is this little
utility
called Dasher:

mary2.html

It's free and runs on many operating systems. It does
require the
manipulation of a pointing device for text generation. It
might be a
good alternative for some VR users, but useless to others.
