Hello
A virus hosed one of our computer's TCP/IP stack. The user
can't get
a web page of any kind to come up. She can ping, but it
shows a "oy"
with two dots over it.
In the Events log, there's a reference to InfoStealer.Phax
It was servere enough that I've scheduled a rebuild for this
computer, but nonetheless, has anybody seen this?
If this weren't XP, I'd simply uninstall TCP/IP and redo it,
but in
this OS, you can't uninstall the TCP/IP protocol.
I did try resetting TCP/IP using the info in the following
URL:
http://support
.microsoft.com/kb/299357
It reset but still no connectivity, and still the same
strange
characters after pinging.
Thanks
Bill Gross
