Hi Rusty,
The set of folders that you have reflects the fact that your
account
has been through several CalMail transitions and has been
used with
several applications.
When we used CommuniGate Pro, the following folders were
typically
created:
Contacts
Notes
DELETED
OUTBOX
When we replaced the CGPro web interface with SquirrelMail,
OUTBOX was
no longer created, but we changed SquirrelMail's default
"Trash"
folder to "DELETED" so that people would not have
two folders serving
as their trash folder. So SquirrelMail creates the
following:
DELETED
Drafts
Sent
Thunderbird will, by default, use the following folders:
Junk
Sent
Drafts
Templates
Finally, CalMail creates the "spam" folder on
account creation.
Here is your list again, annotated with what I think are the
most
likely sources of those folders. I'm also including the
three you
identified as recognized by Thunderbird for completeness.
Contacts -- CGPro
DELETED -- SquirrelMail/CGPro
drafts -- <unknown>
Junk -- Thunderbird
Notes -- CGPro
OUTBOX -- CGPro
Sent Items -- <unknown>
sent-mail -- <unknown>
spam -- CalMail
---
Drafts -- SquirrelMail/Thunderbird
Sent -- SquirrelMail/Thunderbird
Trash -- Thunderbird
SquirrelMail and Thunderbird both provide the ability to
change what
folders are used for special purposes (such as
"Trash" and "Sent").
In SquirrelMail, the option is under Options->Folder
Preferences, in
Thunderbird, under Account Settings->Copies &
Folders. You can use
these settings to reduce duplication and remove some of
those folders.
The ones used only by CGPro can almost certainly be
removed.
