Micronet -
Postings have been made to a number of mailing lists, but I
wanted to send out an aggregated
summary.
Late last evening, the CalNet service experienced problems
with the failure of one of the
replicated LDAP directory servers. This server was returned
to service last night but requires
full synchronization of the LDAP data, which is still in
progress.
This process has taken much longer than expected and as
impacted the following services:
** Calnet – Directory lookups are functional. However,
directory changes cannot be made until the
data replication has been completed
** Bearmail – Bearmail users should access their email with
the Calmail web client until further
notice.
** Unibears – Unibears suffered performance and functional
problems for a period since the
failure. The performance issues have now been resolved, but
users will not be able to change
account settings until the LDAP server has synchronized.
** Webfiles – Webfiles seems to be working satisfactorily,
however, accounts can not be added or
changed until the LDAP server has synchronized.
At this point, complete restoration of the services is not
expected until tomorrow. Additional
status updates will be posted to http://systemstatus
.berkeley.edu.
Regards,
Patrick
