I haven't seen anyone else ask about this. I just tried to do
my timesheet using Kronos and, again, the system wants me to
install a Java component/upgrade (JRE 1.5.0). This is not the
first time this has happened. Everytime it does, we have to upgrade
everyone's workstation which is a lot of work for our tech staff.
How do other departments deal with this? I can't believe everyone
on campus is having to do the same thing!

Hi Susan,
Here is one way to deal with it on a departmental scale:
The JRE 5.0 Update 12 version can be downloaded from Sun for
distribution using an .MSI file from:
http://java.sun.com/products/archive/j2se/5.0_12/index.html
Instructions for how to extract the msi file from the “Offline
Installer” version are here:
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/guide/deployment/deployment-guide/upgrade-guide/deployment.html
We use this msi in a software installation group policy to push
it to machines that need it. The second link also gives instructions for
creating an .mst transform file with Orca which we have not gotten around to
yet, we just use the .msi file.

| Hello Micronetters,
How many of you out there are using KRONOS in some
capacity? Physical Plant is embarking on the KRONOS road, and I'd be curioius to
know if there's a community of interest out there.
Thanks,
Bond
