Cisco has a product called a Location Server that works in
conjunction
with the wireless access points that we have been deploying
on campus
with CNS. (Airbears Beyond)

The location Server acts like a satalite GPS system in that
it can
locate a tag that is placed on the inventory item. Typical
use is to
find equipment that is shared but critical, like test
equipment,
portable computers, etc.

I don't know if they have developed the software to handle
the rest of
the inventory chores that go along with it.

Hope this helps someone,
Bruce
