Good Afternoon, Micro-netters
Some of you may already be aware of a company called,
"COMODO". This
company sells SSL certificates and in order to provide a
safer internet
experience they have developed several "FREE"
tools that require
registration yet will never charge you for it. It is for
life. They feel
that the free software will bring about more business for
the main business.
They provide the following:
Firewall, Anti-malware, Website Authentication, Anti-virus,
and Email
Security Certificate. The web site follows:

This next link explains in more detail why they are
providing this for free.

The current software we use such as Zone Alarm has become
cumbersome and
a resource hog on systems so I went about trying to find a
replacement
that would do the job with less intrusive behavior and found
the above.
I would be interested in hearing from others as to their
experience with
these if they choose to try them out. I have installed the
Anti-malware
to test it out and to date it seems to be running smoothly
and with out
interference to other programs or the system. I plan on
trying out the
firewall and anti-virus on my home machine.
One great thing is they provide updates and patches for life
and at no
charge and for those who have tight budgets this may be a
good
alternative provided it meets the minimum security standards
at work and
home (if you connect and/or telecommute).
P.S. It is rated highly by Smart Computing and PC Magazine.
Respectfully,
Charles
