| Greetings
all,
Thursday, April 27th 3:30-5:00 PM 544 Campbell Hall
In Patty's own words:
"This presentation discusses the basic, initial analytical
steps required for the creation of a successful IT project. Using the processes
that the Facilities and Spatial Data Integration (FASDI) project followed, it
will take you through the initial phases of a project creation -- when the
analytical decisions you make up front will determine the successful
implementation of your idea.
1. Design a plan: Create a solution-based idea (why and
how) 2. Initiate the data project: How to identify
needs and relevant data & identify the sets of data most likely to
succeed 3. How & why to involve others: Why have
a steering committee, or work groups, who should be on it 4. How to name the
project: Why naming the project is so crucial, the problems with naming &
how to use it as a tool 5. Pitch the idea & seek
a champion: Presentations, sponsorship (why and how), what if you're not
successful 6. Special concerns in today's environment: Conducting risk
assessments, segment restricted and non restricted data 7. Learn from our
mistakes (cautions): Enterprise systems in a departmental system, the Myth Good
= Successful, and the effects of reorganizations to your
plan."
