Right now, they are already separated. Image services provides basic features like loading, saving, resizing, memory i/o (loading or saving images to/from memory buffers) and image manipulations (
i.e. convert to greyscale and many other things)

Most image manipulation code has been removed from loadavatars already.

The image service API is still very basic. I'll publish it within the next few days for discussion.
