Odd problem with part categories and searching

Ok, continuing on my last search topic, I've found a few
things:
Existing parts are not showing up in their respective
categories
Some parts are not showing up when searched for (even by
part number)
These existing parts are displaying as correctly assigned to
the
appropriate category in Miva Admin
New test parts added through the admin and not from the
provide.xml file
show up correctly.

Any ideas about why parts transferred from the provide.xml
file would be
showing up correctly in the admin section, but not in their
categories?
