And this is the rub (see the initial announcement on this
below). You
are not going to get an email with every new post. You will
get an
email with the thread beginning. If you want to see what is
going on
with the thread, you are going to have to go back and check
in to see
what everybody else's thoughts are on the thread.
For the module developers, this new thing will be just fine.
As
example, today, I have responded to 3 threads, I think. 1)
This one, 2)
A question about order ID in the merchant notification email
so the
store can quickly match up emails and orders, 3) A question
about flat
rate shipping to international customers and not making it
free like
their US shipping. Two of those I gave non-module and/or
module
solutions. This thread is ongoing.
But for the store owner with an issue that has a question
that drags out
with lots of different opinions on how to best do it, the
MIVA staff is
going to need to bear the burden. Take, for instance, the
watermark
issue. As a casual quest for knowledge, I lightly scanned
the multiple
emails. But with a forum, I am not likely to go back and
read the posts
over a two day period from all the different folks. A
passive email is
going to be noticed, read, deleted. An active effort to
visit a forum
may often get put on the back burner and forgotten.
