> Hi,
> I have successfully installed mnoGoSearch 3.3.4 on a
Linux server. The server also runs Samba and serves files to
our Windows clients. I would like to index these local files
and make them available to Windows clients from the search
results form, i.e. the user clicks on the result, and then
she is taken to the Samba UNC path from where she can open
or save the file. The Server and Alias commands in my
indexer.conf file are as follows:
>
> Server file://fileserver/share/
> Alias file://fileserver/share/ file:/share/

work at all. I click them and get an error. Meanwhile, I
changed the configuration to

Do you mean that you get some search results, but when you
click
on the URL - nothing happens, the browser just don't want
to
follow the link?

The latest version of browsers disallow following
from remote pages to local pages for security reasons.
Please take a look how Mozilla explain this:
ht
tp://kb.mozillazine.org/Links_to_local_pages_don't_work

After you configure your browser to allow following the
local links,
don't forget to convert the URLs to so called UNC notation,
with five slashes:
file://///servername/share/

I can be done using the "Alias" in search.htm:

Alias file://servername/ file://///servername/

> Server http://fileserver/share/

> Alias http://fileserver/share/
file:/share/

Samba share available through Apache. I tried to customize
indexer.conf and search.cgi as described in
http://www.mnogosearch.org/board/message.php?id=3754, to
no avail - I believe that's because it's a very old thread
and mnoGoSearch has changed over time. I also tried the
solutions described in
http://www.mnogosearch.org/board/message.php?id=9698 and

http://www.mnogosearch.org/board/message.php?id=4353
with no success.
