Hello!

Did anyone try to find out specifications on this cool
device, or maybe
tried to use MS driver for it, or make it to work under
FreeBSD with any
other method?

It would be nice to use finger instead of password

Alex.

Not taking into account that fingerprints can easily be
spoofed within 10 minutes (And with high reliability),
as seen on the what the hack conference last year.

Using ssh with a pub/private key is much safer, so i hope
you are not using this as a security measure...

Cheers,
remko

Sounds reasonable; however, it's a measure for LOCAL access.
Anyone can
detach notebook and carry it away within 10 minutes and with
high
reliability. And it's cool after all ;)

Alex.

If this is the UPEK chip there's a package for it that hooks
into PAM.
The only downside is it uses a binary library that's 32-bit
only (I
wanted it for my amd laptop but haven't been able to figure
out how to
cobble together a 32-bit app to work on the 64-bit system).

http://shapeshifter.se/articles/upek_touchchip_freebsd/

has an article about using it. I just looked but didn't
find the
freebsd port for it (pretty sure there is one).
