Thank you for your notes on the HP Compaq nx6325 and
FreeBSD. I have
been considering this machine. It has the right features and
an
attractive price but after some investigation I'm not sure
anymore.
There is an ongoing discussion suggesting that the HP bios
is broken,
i.e. poor compliance with ACPI specs. Users of recent Linux
distros
report problems:

Sorry that I can't help with the problem. Let us hope for HP
to provide
a bios upgrade solution.
