Strange behavior of wi(4) on 6.2-R

I recently installed 6.2-RELEASE on a
Toshiba Satellite Pro 6100 for a client.

We've since solved a couple of important
issues with the installation
(ACPI Suspend/Resume,
Automounting removable media in Gnome),
which is a good thing.

One outstanding issue has to do with device wi(4).

The device associates to our local AP OK,
and dhclient wi0 does exactly what it's supposed
to do.

After some random period, however, the IPv4 address
information for the device just disappears
(i.e., ifconfig wi0 reports it one minute,
then the next the network connection is down,
and ifconfig wi0 reports no inet address info).

dhclient continues to run with no complaints
and the device stays associated to the AP,
as far as I can tell from ifconfig wi0...

What might cause this ?

It's easy enough to reset the wi0 device
(we "stop", wait a bit, then "start" it
again)
from a local script.

Ideas ?

I don't recall seeing anything like these
in /var/log/messages on that notebook.

The day before I was trying to use the WiFi
network connection, we had this notebook on a
wired network connections using the same D-Link
hub/wireless AP/router using dhclient.
That wired fxp(4) connection was rock-solid for hours,
while the wireless wi(4) wouldn't last for
more than an hour (usually much less).
