| Possible bugs in Stetic/Monodevelop? |

|
2007-02-04 15:16:30 |
Hello,
I've been (slowly) developing an app over the past few
months and I
have a couple of problems with the Stetic designer that
occurs on both
my machines: a PC running Ubuntu Dapper, and a Macbook
running Ubuntu
Edgy. Both are using Monodevelop 0.12.
Essentially the main problem is related to the menu editor -
in the
designer when I click on an initial menu (e.g. File or Edit
- the
top-level ones) the menu that pops up looks blank - no text
or icons,
just a grey box. The box is still functional - I can add
entries and
edit entries if I double click on them (they show up then)
but that's
it.
A second issue is that when resizing the main window, all
the stuff
inside the window can suddenly disappear.
I've check the bug repositories for Monodevelop and Ubuntu
and can't
find a mention of either - are they known issues, and if so
is it
Monodevelop or the distro, and if not where should I file
the bug?
Also I'm not subscribed to the list so could you cc me on
any responses.
Cheers,
Scott

Well, that's how it works. The grey box that pops up should
contain a
message saying "Click to create action".

This is a bug, and it is aleady fixed in SVN.

You can report MonoDevelop bugs in bugzilla.ximian.com.
Lluis.

Ah - sorry, re-reading my explanation shows that it is quite
poor.
I've attatched a screenshot - when I say all I see is a grey
box, I
mean that even with 8+ entries in the menu when expanded in
stetic
it's just a grey box - the menu items themselves are not
visible.
This is in stetic - when I run the program they show up.
If this has never been reported before I'm inclined to
believe it's
not a stetic bug but something to do with my set up. On
both my
machines I've used the rpm from the download page as if I
compile it
from source myself the program crashes even more
spectacularly.
Cheers,
Scott

Why don't you try using Monodevelop from Ubuntu packaging
system?

The normal one is out of date (monodevelop-0.11) I think
there was
a monodevelop-0.12 one in the main repository but I had the
same
problem with that.

Ok, "bug" confirmed.
Ubuntu feisty, today's mono packages 1.2.2/1.2.3
MonoDevelop from svn, like 2 days old ;)
Submenus entries are displayed, but the text color is the
same as
background color, so in effect you get a "grey
rectangle".
The text "click to create menu" is visible.
I'm using CleanIce gtk style.

Could you please file a bug report for this problem?

)
Thanks.

Done. #80864
And some afterthoughts.
At first I just thought "text color is the same as
backgroud", but now
I'm not really sure if that's the case. It would be good if
someone, for
whom it's important would check this. For example adding
icons to
entries, some radio buttons and see if that's the case.
It's not important for me, so I won't find time for this in
near future.
