It attempts concatenation of what it believes to be a number
token
with something else... which now fails.

Perhaps these kinds of changes shouldn't be applied right
before
a release is cut? Just a suggestion.

Well, I'm considering pulling the release (cutting is one
thing, 
uploading is another)... however, the big problem I've seen
is that 
stabilization periods don't seem to get much attention and
therefore 
really don't help much.

The second thing is that we really don't have much of mine
(or, really, 
anyone else's) time, and what time there is tends to be
highly bursty.

It sounds like your use case really wants a %iftoken,
something that can 
tell you if something is a single pasteable token or not.
