Peter ,
The normal method of doing this is to do the math. Basically
you get
your map of oz put it in a picture component of some kind ,
overlay a
paintbox.
Work out how many degree lat an long are border by the
Square in which
you are showing your map. Then when you have a GPS location
do simple
math to work out the current size of your screen relative to
the known
size of your world square and place a point at x,y on the
paintbox that
is overlaid. I worked in a GPS mapping company and this is
how we did it
. It really is a relatively simple calculation. To take it
one step
further you would use UBD maps and you can have them
supplied from UBD
with LAT /LONG locations for there TOP.LEFT etc etc you then
work out
which map is withing your GPS area by doing the trig
involved. Don't
think a component is needed although possible there are some
out there
but way over priced.
Mark
PS TPaintbox is a little slow if you want real time tracking
but
probably fine if your just showing where a point is on the
map

Hi Peter..
This may not be much use but..
I did a little maintenance work a couple of years ago on a
system which
used a component called TGlobe. I don't have much
recollection of what
either it or the app did, but I remember it did them quite
well!
There was a mailing list which was quite active.
Their website does display signs of recent activity..
