When I was learning photography, I was taught that a semi-telephoto
lens corresponds to what we concentrate on when looking at a vista so
therefore that should be the lens we use. When using your Sigma zoom
at what mm setting are you usually set on? Unless you are doing a
panorama, stick with what has worked for you so far.

Hi Thom. Thanks! I guess you're right, I agree with what you say.
Big landscapes on photo are so hard to get with a decent feeling of
dimension!
What I've done so far that works fairly well is to include some of
the foreground in the picture using a very small fstop. It helps if
its taken using a very low perspective, close to the ground.
Another good way to do it is just to measure and lock values in the
camera, and take 2 photos with a slight movement to the side between
them, and them watch them in stereo in a computer! That's depth
allright!
