I did this with my D70 but I don't think the D200 uses an IR Remote.
I do however have a Remote Cable release that works with the D200 & F100.

James, you are correct. this works with all of the
camera's below the D200 but not hte D200 or the D2 series! They take a
wired remote... however, you can also purchase a wirless remote for them as
well, but they work throught the wored remote! I have used the TV remote
to trigger my D70 using JVC TV codes and it worked for me up to about
75feet!
