Can you define what "default" means? It's not at
all obvious. Is it a
duplicate of "original" or something else?

It means: if the decoder is going to play only a subset of
the tracks 
(e.g. multiple audios), and it has no particular reason to
pick one track 
over another (i.e. the user hasn't selected any nor provided
a rule to 
select for him), then bias towards the one marked default.
