FW: Contribution of the "fixed row" feature to the Grid

I am writing to this mailing list because my company would like to contribute a feature to the Grid widget.

 

We would like to implement the fixed row header and footer feature that Tom Schindl has created a proof-of-concept implementation for. Please see the thread "Does GridViewer support fixed columns?" in the eclipse.technology.nebula news group and the bug “Provide fixed columns/rows” (https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=166089) in the Eclipse bugzilla.

 

In the bug description it says that the patch is only a proof of concept implementation. Can Chris or Tom please explain to us how the real implementation should be done? What should we change/improve in the patch? What features are missing or should the solution be conceptually different?
