I thought these (Qube 2 and 3) were just old enough machines
that you have to check before assuming large drive size
support; for the IDE controller more than that OS...

Documentation of getting NetBSD going up on the Qube 3 is
kind of sparse, BTW.

You might want to send a note to the i386-portmaster. 
port-cobalt is
only for the mips based hardware (Qube, raq, raq2).
