Hello all,

   I'm using NetBSD/amd64 3.1.

I want to use an USB memory key and a CF-card for storing
certain
critical configuration files on. However, using my memory
key and
CF-card under 3.0 was pretty unstable. As long as I didn't
write large
files, it worked. But if I pushed the interface, it could
hang the
system entirely.

Under 3.1 the problem worsened, it is unable to use USB
mass storage
devices at all. (It does notice the attachment, but
attempting to use
the devices will hang the system).

Has any work been done on the USB stack in NetBSD 4?

As I wrote about my USB-mouse: it seems, that there is kind
of more general
USB-problem.

Yes, I have tried both with and without EHCI.

On 3.0, it did seem get more unstable with EHCI, but on
3.1 it
doesn't matter if it's enabled or not.

Have you tried disabling ehci driver in your kernel? On my
machines,
ehci driver has always been quite unusable, but ohci works
reasonably
well.

For what it's worth, I regularly use a USB card reader and
copy
large files regularly with absolutely no problems. This is
on
NetBSD/i386 3.1 and -current.
