openssl req -subj

I am trying to use the -subj command line argument of
openssl req as
distributed with NetBSD 3.0/i386.  This option is documented
in the
man page for openssl_req, but is not accepted by the
program.  I seem
to have encountered some other differences between the
openssl man
pages and the program.

Am I doing something wrong or do the openssl binary and man
pages
disagree?
