| hpcmips on Compaq 2010C |

Hello all!
I'd like to install NetBSD (hpcmips) on a Compaq 2010C (with
win CE...).
I've been using linux for a couple of years but I'm
completely new to
NetBSD. In fact I knew of NetBSD looking for a nix port for
that compaq.
I wanted to know if it's possible to install hpcmips on that
2010C...
Any pieces of advices will be appreciatted.
I'd like to install Xs, a word processor (may be Abiword or
some other).
Ideally it would be a good idea to have net connection. I
imagine that
the built-in modem provided with the 2010C will not work,
right?
Regards,
Matías

Alexander,
Thanks a lot for your answer!
Just one more question: Did you use a compact flash with a
pcmcia
adapter in order to install hpcmips? Or you achieved to
install it into
the 2010c bult-in memory?
Because if I'm not wrong the 2010c doesn't come with compact
flash, right?
As long as I have a little time I'll try to install.
Regards,
Matías

Hi,

I installed it on a CF card using a USB CF card reader and a
PC running
OpenBSD, and I use a PCMCIA adaptor in the 2010c.

NetBSD uses all of the built-in memory as RAM, whereas CE
uses part
of it as RAM, and a part as a disk. The only possiblity,
therefore, to
install NetBSD without a CF card would be to use a ramdisk,
which I doubt
would be very useful in practice (not to mention the fact
that it wouldn't
be large enough to contain things like X and Abiword). (You
could probably
flash the ROM if you have the hardware, and you know what
you're doing,
but again, there's not enough of it for anything
practical.)

Alexander, thanks again.
As I'm new to bsd it wont'b be easy, but I'll try.
I think a brand new CF and start testing the way you did.
