Hi folks,

I'm going to let macbsd.com expire this year. It's been
used
for pretty much nothing except spam lately. If anyone would
like to pick it up, let me know.

Cheers,
-allen

I have a wonderful, decked out Mac Quadra 605 which is now
(as of NetBSD
4.99.4) completely stable with a static IP which would be
happy to host
macbsd.com. I'd even be happy to offer shell accounts to
anyone who might
want to do any sort of work on an m68k NetBSD machine.

I can take over domain domain registration, too, if you
like.

John,

that's a generous offer.

It's a good thing that the name stays around, after being in
so many
archives. And although generating dynamic web content is
more than a Quadra
can offer, a central place to put mac68k related docs and
patches is a good
thing.

I personally have plenty of ideas for what such a site
should/could be
about, and things can be dynamic and still ran on a Mac
(think
compiled CGI, caching, or non-local SQL (or all three)), if
running
the site on a mac is even a requirement. Infact, I'd even
volunteer to
help run the site although my hosting abilities are more or
less maxed
with the one site I do own and maintain (http://dnyde.net).

In short, I'll do what I can:
* HTML/script authorship
* Shell hosting (Centris 650 maxed RAM)
* Email hosting (I'll need help with this, but I have the
server and
bandwidth for it)
* Moderation of forums or news
* CONTENT! I have a few old HOWTOs I should dig out and
update.
* Server maintenance

Anything else? Just mail me! Definitely keep me in the loop
though,
macbsd.com was one of the domains I tried to get back when I
got
dnyde.net and I'd love to be a part of the
"project"

I host a number of large sites, including one which has done
more than 4
terabytes in a day. If we end up wanting to do stuff that's
too much to do
on a Quadra, I can put it on one of the colocated machines
(which are
also, incidentally, Macs).

We can plan details off list, but it'd be great to have a
more active
site. Perhaps a community type site would be good so that
others can get
involved. And / or a wiki for the documentation, too.

Anyone who's interested is welcome to contribute however
they can!

It's not too hard - I host lots of sites already!

I agree. The more I think about it, the more I like the idea
that at least
some of the documentation could benefit by being put into a
wiki. Now to
find someone who's set one up... I don't see MediaWiki in
pkgsrc...

After I'd cleaned up the A/UX docs I thought I'd start on
NetBSD but in
reality I don't have that much time. :( A wiki, though,
would be a
great way to proceed (IMHO). If the mac68k wiki actually
ran from a
mac68k box, that would be a sweet testament to the
usefulness these
beauties still hold!

How about putting the wiki bits under http://wiki.ne
tbsd.se/index.php/mac68k ?

It's already set up, and I guess "the" wiki for
NetBSD. What it
doesn't have is much in the way of info.

This site seems to have a decent bit of movement behind it
already. I
suggest we just use it rather than duplicate effort with
another domain.
Maybe macbsd.com can be set as a redirect to the mac68k
page above?

I've started to do a small bit of work on some mac68k
topics, and some
general classification too. If anyone else wants to jump in
with input...
