re: oss compatibility for >2 channels

   
   Do you have a chance to test on a real OSS system
   (which would be Linux probably)?
   The question is how it behaves if the number of
   channels requested is not supported. Is the request
   ignored and the previous value kept, or is a closest
   value chosen, or some minimum/default?
   The OSS docs I've found on the net don't tell much.
