Hello,

did anyone manage to boot a -current kernel on a beige G3 ?
I've been unable to get the firmware to load anything from
any NetBSD
CD I found here ( 3.0, 2.1 and 1.6.2 ) although an OSX 10.3
CD boots
fine ( and later complains but - well - it boots )
So I tried to netboot it - did that on an iMac before which
worked fine.
ofwboot.xcf loads, tries to grab the kernel and immediately
bombs back
to the OF prompt.
The only output:
3160672DEFAULT CATCH!, code=FFF00300 at: %SRR0: 00E08E50
%SRR1 00003070

Is that just me?

have fun
Michael

turns out using an older ofwboot.xcf ( 3.0-ish ) works just
fine.

This happens on my Performa 6360 with a recent GENERIC
kernel (~6MB).
A smaller custom kernel (< 3MB) works fine.

Cheers,
Jared

Hmm, here a 3.0ish ofwboot.xcf Just Worked(tm).

Anyway, wdc at obio seems seriously broken.
Hangs while probing IDE devices and we have a bug report
about that.

have fun
