Ok, so the messed up video mode was just that - wrong video
mode.

I have no explanation for that - it works fine here.

Hmm, radeonfb /should/ restore the video mode when X exits.
Do you use
XFree86 or Xorg? I've seen Xorg mess up my RV280 enough to
keep
radeonfb from setting its video mode while it works fine
with XFree86.

have fun

It is XFree86 4.5.0.
The one that ships with NetBSD-daily tarballs.

I noticed that there are xbase.tgz in /macppc and another
one in
/shared/powerpc:
ftp://ftp2.fr.netbsd.org/pub/NetBSD-daily/netbsd-4/200705160
002Z/shared/powerpc/
I've never seen that before so I thought it was some kind of
either error
or work in progress. So I used what was in
/macppc/binary/sets/

According to my monitor, the screen resolution is
1280x102460Hz in the
console (before X start), during X session and after the X
session quits.
I'm using a DVI connection - for what it's worth knowing
it.
The last lines of my XFree86.0.log are:
(II) XINPUT: Adding extended input device
"Keyboard0" (type: KEYBOARD)
(II) XINPUT: Adding extended input device "Mouse0"
(type: MOUSE)
Could not init font path element
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/CID/, removing
from list!
(II) RADEON(0): Wrote: rd=12, fd=443, pd=0

Regards,
  Jo
