Yes please! I would be very grateful to have a copy of your
kernel, especially
as I too have the Rev 1 motherboard with the buggy IDE.

So my guess about the cause of the problem is likely to be
right?  Is the kernel
root device autodetection known to be faulty?  Is it on a
list of things to be
fixed?
