Apple UFS in production?

Hello, all,

I'm curious whether anyone is using systems with their
primary NetBSD
filesystems on Apple UFS? I tried setting up a system, but
it seemed very
slow when I was cvs'ing src and pkgsrc, plus it eventually
stopped
responding. Due to the way the monitor was connected, I
didn't get to see
why, but I'm wondering if Apple UFS isn't the best
filesystem to use.

I used it a couple of years ago, but haven't used it
recently. I also
had some instability, but I don't think it was UFS-related.
It was
slow, but (at the time, anyway) much faster under NetBSD
(compared to
OS X -- OS X really seems to prefer HFS+).

I don't use UFS on any of my Macs at all anymore. And with
the
version of Leopard that was made available at WWDC07, you
can't create
UFS volumes with Disk Utility anymore (you can still do it
with the
diskutil command line tool, however).

Ditto. Has always worked fine on my iBook G3 since dbj added
support
for it.

The only (non-NetBSD related) problem is that Microsoft
Office for
OS X will refuse to work if your ~/Library (I think) folder
is on a
UFS partition, so I have to use a HFS+ home partition with a
forest of
symlinks to my otherwise shared UFS home partition.
(Not that I boot my G3 into OS X that often however, but it
does work)
