Hello,

has anybody got snapper to work on a PowerBook from around
May 2005 or
newer (on current-, 4.99.30)? Snapper attaches just fine
as

  snapper0 at obio0 offset 0x0: irq 30,1,2
deq0 at ki2c1 Apple Digital Equalizer, addr 0x6a
  audio0 at snapper0: full duplex

, and everything output from cdplay and similar commands
looks just
fine, but there is no sound. This seems to be the same
situation as in

  http://mail-index.netbsd.org/port-macppc/2006/02/10
/0001.html

. Does anybody have a clue where to look for the problem?
I have
nothing against fiddling around with the driver, but does
anybody have a
hint where to start looking?

(My kernel is essentially GENERIC.)

I guess you tried things like mpg123? In most newer Apple
laptops the
CDROM has no analog audio connection to the sound chip so
cdplay
doesn't produce any sound.

Besides that, please post your ofctl -p output so we know
what exact
kind of hardware we're talking about.

have fun

Thought so but had to be sure.

Let's see, the interesting stuff starts here:

Hmm, doesn't claim to be a snapper.

It is the right codec though, the i2s stuff is little more
than a DMA
backend so it /should/ work.

So, do you see periodic interrupts from when playing or
recording
audio? Do you get noise when reading from /dev/audio? If you
see
interrupts then at least the DMA is working.

have fun

I have not had time to look into it properly, but it seems
that I do not
get any interrupts at all.
