Hi there!
I managed to install NetBSD3.0 on a SCSI-HD attached to a
Symbios Logic
53C810A SCSI adapter in a B&W G3, but now I don't know
how to boot
NetBSD from that disk, because I can't find the proper
openfirmware dev
entry!
Does anyone know how the dev entry for that disk look like
in
openfirmware?
Any help appreciated!
Thanks in advance
Thomas

hi thomas,
when it doesn't show up in the OF device tree (in case
it's not an
OF-enabled HBA, which seems to be so), then you'll have
hard times to
boot off this HD.
i have had a similar setup in a G3 b&w and used a CF to
IDE adapter to
boot off from. you could also create a CD, or netboot, or...
HTH,

To make things worse many 53c810 based cards seem to have no
ROM at all.

Exactly, all he needs is /something/ OF knows about so it
can load the
kernel. After that the kernel's drivers will take over and
find the SCSI
controller.
have fun
