This is on -current 060606 that it boots fine.
It picks ex0 because of boot preference I am guessing.

Yeah.. I suspect your pcn problems were due to you booting
3.0, not due to the
pcn.  However, the ex is probably a better interface, and
the fact that it
works for you is pretty cool.. so you might as well stick
with it.

I also notice you have an IBM token ring card in there.  Do
you have any need
for that to work?

It came with the box when I bought it off Ebay.
Not sure what it was, thought it was ethernet at first.
However, I do not use tokenring, so it's no use to me.
