===================================
Cherokee 0.6.1 "Easter" released!
===================================
Description
-----------
Cherokee is a very fast, flexible and easy to configure Web
Server.
It supports the widespread technologies nowadays: FastCGI,
SCGI, PHP,
CGI, TLS and SSL encrypted connections, Virtual hosts,
Authentication,
on the fly encoding, Apache compatible log files, and much
more.
Cherokee also provides an easy to use configuration
interface that
allows to configure the server from top to bottom without
having to
edit a text configuration file.

Changes since 0.6.0
-------------------
- Handler dirlist has been fixed. A high visibility bug was
introduced
right before releasing 0.6.0.
- "Personal Web" support has been added to the
administration
interface. Addresses like http://server/~user can be
now configured
from cherokee-admin.
- A few minor bugs have been fixed in the documentation, the
compilation and the administration interface.
Changes since 0.5
-----------------
A huge amount of work has been put on this release. It has
taken us
more than two years to complete it, and there are too many
changes to
be listed here. These are the most important improvements
over the
previous Cherokee 0.5 series:
- Administration Interface: You will not need to edit a text
file in
order to configure the web server any longer! A user
friendly web
interface will assist you to set up your site.
- 20% to 25% faster. Even if our previous Cherokee releases
perform
very well, Cherokee 0.6 is even faster!
- It does support load balancing. It can distribute load
between
multiple FastCGI, SCGI and HTTP servers from within the
web server.
- The authentication support has been improved by adding new
modules
for validation against MySQL and LDAP servers.
- A new documentation system has been integrated, which has
allowed
the developer team to significantly improve the user
documentation.
- This is the safest version of Cherokee ever. A new
recovery
mechanism has been integrated to ensure that the server
will always
be up and running.
- Looks nicer: new themes and icon sets have been included.
