Only 8-bit color depth?

Howdy --

I'm running MOL 0.9.70 on a 12" aluminum Powerbook
(nVidia graphics),
and when I run MOL in console mode, it decides that it can
only use an
8-bit color depth. On startup, output includes:

No video mode match the default one.

Any idea how I can get it to use 24 bit color depth like my
X session?
