Seems to be related to filter parsing, but we don't get any
logging 
about the filter, and there's too little information to
detect what's 
the issue.  You might add "packets" to the log
level to see what 
actually gets sent along with the request (beware that log
level will be 
very verbose, then), and post the output concerning the sole
initiation 
of the search request up to the hang.
