Just in case anyone was wondering, I figured out why I was getting two
SPAM ratings. The first was because smitecrc was still turned on,
which, it turns out, is a completely seperate system from Aspam. To
turn it off, I removed the line g_virus_filter cmd="smitecrc"
type="" from my surgemail.ini.
Peace,
Matt

Hi,
I'm a sys admin using surgemail. I went through the SPAM how-to online,
and it's working great. However, we're experiencing the following
problem. Sometimes the SPAM detection mechanism puts two X-SpamDetect
headers in the message with diffferent ratings. The first rating is
invariably low (it seems to only rate the message based on the content
of the message - probably ASPAM), however, the second rating is always
high, and is rated based on the full arsenal of spam detection
mechanisms (SPF, SURBL, RBL, ASPAM, etc.).
The problem is: apparently when the server decides whether or not to
add the "SPAM **" to the subject line, it only looks at the first
X-SpamDetect header (i.e., the low rating), and not the second one. So
things that are obviously SPAM, and are rated very high in the second
X-SpamDetect header, don't get "SPAM: ****" added to the subject
because the server only looked at the rating in the first X-SpamDetect
header.
Does anyone know how to configure the server so that only one
X-SpamDetect rating header gets put in each message?
See below for some example headers of what I'm talking about.
Thanks!
Matt
