"Server Response" '-ERR Login Failed - already 17/15 users
connected sorry, setting G_CON_PERIP (IP xx.xxx.xxx.xxx): Port 110; ...
Error Number 0x800CCC90
When this happened I was unable to get to the Surgemail Admin application
on the server and the client was also unable to get in with the secure
connection via 7443/cgi/user.cgi
The only way I was able to get anything to happen was to shutdown
Surgemail and then restart it.
I do not know if the peak 15 connection limit triggered something else
that locked things up (looks suspiciously that way) or if it was a
coincidental concatenation.
The client has about 60 users behind a single T-1 line and all their IP
addresses look the same to the outside world. So each of them hits
the server with the same IP address even if they are using webmail.
I would think that if they were to hit the peak POP3 limit as one drops
off, the next will be able to get in. Normally this only takes
seconds to check and send/download any messages. I can't imagine
how they managed to hit the peak and then stay there. The 17/15
indicates the same counter is being used for the Webmail and something is
not releasing.
we are running version 3.8f2 on Windows server 2003 for what it is
worth.
